Our Story
Mr Teddy Gruhn and his family were frequent visitors to the Walvis Bay coast from Keetmanshoop. During their frequent holiday trips Teddy saw the lack of holiday bungalows. Due to work circumstances, Teddy and his family moved to Walvis Bay. He did not start Lagoon Chalets immediately, but he had a plumbing and small repairs business. An opportunity arose to buy erven and that is how the chalets started.
Lagoon Chalets officially opened its doors in December 1992. They then only had 12 chalets.
As soon as the following year started, phase 2 was in progress.
The double storeys came approximately 1 year later, upon the request of clients requesting more bigger and more luxurious chalets. A need for camping sites arose, as Walvis Bay did not have camping sites any more. In 2001 we opened a caravan park.
In 2010 the 6 units were built. Just sufficient for 2 persons, self-catering and private. Together with this project, we used an old restaurant and converted it to a dormitory facility.
The restaurant/coffee shop was opened end May 2012 with a lovely playpark.
